Money Spirit

The Spirit of Money: My Sense of a Living, Breathing Presence

In 1998, after several years of creating soul-generated drawings, I set the intention to draw an image of the spirit of money. I had no preconceived vision - no expectation of what it would look like. I simply invited it to reveal itself to me.

What appeared was surprising, yet deeply resonant. The image was almost botanical—organic in nature, alive with movement. It carried the essence of growth, flexibility, responsiveness, and consciousness. It wasn’t cold, hard, or rigid, as I often perceive money in the world. Instead, it felt fluid, breathing, connected.

That experience began to change my relationship with money. I no longer saw it as just numbers on a page or a means to an end. It had an essence, a life force. It wanted to flow, to support, to be in harmony with the natural cycles of giving and receiving.

When I think of money now, I sometimes recall this image—the living, growing spirit of it. The Money Spirit seems to invite me to collaborate as a partner. For me, I interpret that it doesn’t respond well to scarcity thinking or tight-fistedness; it thrives in openness, gratitude, and conscious stewardship.
